As there are widespread rains across the country due to Southwest monsoon, the central government has announced that the power shortage in the country has reduced to 3.9%.
The demand for electric power was lesser during the rains and this is cited as the reason for the reduction in shortfall.
In June, the shortfall was 5.1%. However, following the onset of southwest monsoon, pleasant climate prevailed reducing the need for air-conditioners leading to reduced demand for electricity.
