Diwali falls on 22nd and the festival is fast nearing with just 13 days left. As a step to comfort the public, extra bus and train facilities will be arranged for people to travel to their hometown during festive seasons, especially Diwali. Though people try for private bus options, most people end up seeking for government buses.

People are now left expected about additional bus facilities this year too. However, as of now, all buses and trains flowing in to southern districts are jam packed. More importantly, advance booking for buses towards Madurai, Trichi, Thirunelveli, Tuticorin, Nagarcoil, Kanniyakuamri, etc are all over. Furthermore, all Omni buses are filled too.

Now people all over are left with no choice other than government buses. It is said that special bus facilities from Chennai Koyambedu will be arranged three days prior to the eve of Diwali. Similarly, buses from other cities will also be increased. Passengers will be taken on the basis of token and not through advance booking. As people will come thronging to buses, it is certainly necessary to make the necessary bus facilities commenced from 19th October. However, officials have not given any confirmation about this and are remaining silent. It is still unknown about special bus facilities and who will offer them.

It is expected that over 1500 special buses will be arranged for Diwali. Out of this, nearly 1000 buses will start from Chennai by the noon time of 21st – the day before the eve. Buses towards Vilupuram, Selam, Coimbature, etc will start from Chennai Koyambedu. The public have now plead to make announcement about these special bus facilities so that their Diwali plan can be on.
