The city will continue to experience rains until Wednesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
At 8.30 p.m. on Sunday, the rainfall recorded at Nungambakkam was 8.4 mm, and at Meenambakkam, 9.5 mm. From Saturday morning, the city has received an average rainfall of 5 cm, with the maximum temperature being 28 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal.
According to IMD, on Monday, the maximum temperature will be 26 degrees Celsius and the minimum will be 24 degrees Celsius.
The rains are due to the low pressure trough between India and Sri Lanka, said an IMD official.
