Additional CoP (Law & Order- North) Karuna Sagar and JC-North C Sridhar held a meeting with 48 builders following the spate of crimes committed by migrant labourers in the city. The builders agreed to share details of labourers working for them, with the police and other departments.
During the meeting, several issues, including the crime rate involving migrant labourers, were discussed in detail. The builders, all members of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI), agreed to divulge details relating to agents supplying migrant labourers and migrant labourers themselves to facilitate easy tracking. The ID proof of migrant labourers will be collected and passed on to the police to verify the antecedents of migrant labourers.
The meeting was also aimed at sensitizing builders on the needs of migrant labourers and the necessity of maintaining proper documentation.
Besides, the police advised the builders to follow the provisions of the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979.
