Kodambakkam Overbridge to reopen on 24th December

After a prolonged renovation project, Kodambakkam Overbridge is set to be reopened on 24th December.
Heavy duty vehicles will be permitted to ply on the overbridge from 1st January.
The overbridge renovation work began last June. However, in order to reduce the excessive traffic congestion, 2-way movement of vehicles was permitted on the overbridge leading to delay in renovation work completion.
The renovation work was resumed on 18th November with certain traffic regulations and the work continued.
Tasks such as fixing new LED lamps, making smooth pavements, fixing of handrails, fixing of a 4-step staircase, and painting were undertaken.
Corporation officials expect the work will be completed before 24th December.
The overbridge is set to reopen on 24th December. Heavy vehicles will be allowed to operate from 1st January. External painting will also be completed after which the overbridge will be fully ready by end March.
