Health Minister on safety in medication

Health Minister, C.Vijayabaskar advised not to provide medicines to the public without proper prescriptions from certified doctors. In a recently held discussion at the secretariat headed by the heath minister, Health Secretary J.Radhakrishnan, Director of Drug Control Department, Abdul Kadhar, Director of Family Welfare, R. Krishnamoorthy, and many others took part.
 
Speaking during the event, health minister said no medicine should be sold in any pharmacy without proper prescription from certified doctors. Severe action will be taken against those who do not follow this rule. All complaints received about medicines will be studied and necessary action will be taken against them.
 
It’s important to keep track of the quality and safety standards of the medicines and the tax paid towards it. The health department is also bound to keep an eye on medicines that are advertised and the public needs to be protected from getting into trap. Storing expired medicines or selling them needs to be monitored by the department, he added.
