Lack of uniformity in TANGEDCO SMS alerts

Posted on: 16/Mar/2015 5:48:12 PM
TANGEDCO took initiative for Short Message Service (SMS) last year. Under this, the department aimed at providing all bill payment details through SMS. This however has not yet been streamlined. In fact, there are complaints popping out about the wrong alert messages or nil messages. The service was launched by then Chief Minister Jayalalitha.

The SMS is supposed to include customer connection number, due date of making the payment, and bill amount. This sms is to be received by the payee 3 days before the due date so that he/she doesn’t forget the due.

Speaking to one of the residents in the city, he says he has only 6 connections, but he has been receiving SMS for 10 connections. On informing this mishap to the local officials, he was told to approach the nearby section office and get the issue cleared by making necessary changes. This error has unwontedly invited nuisance to me, he adds. He points that the intended customer would be missing these SMS.

Not just this resident, but there are many who complaint of such lack of uniformity in the service. Did you have any such experience? Post below:
