Koyambedu market was closed on Monday due to the elections. In anticipation of the holiday, prices rose in the city.
An official from the Koyambedu Fruits and Vegetables Merchants’ Association said, Until last month, we would receive around 400 loads of vegetables every day. However, this month, received only 120. Monday being a government holiday, we received 160 loads on Sunday, which is practically that for two days. We were therefore left with no option than to raise the prices. Certain vegetables are being brought in from Chikmagalur, Kolar, Chintamani and Rayalaseema. The supply in these places is now less and therefore, the loads we get are now also less. The prices will remain the same until December.
