CMDA (Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority) has ordered removal of 3 galleries which were built in violation of the rules and regulations in M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai.
CMDA has ordered TNCA to organise the removal of 3 galleries without any disturbance to anyone.
M A Chidmabaram Stadium at Chepauk, Chennai is owned by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. On the occasion of the 2011 World Cup Cricket tournament, 3 new galleries (I, J, and K) were constructed. However, CMDA ruled that they were constructed without proper approval and in violation of the rules and regulations and refused approval to open the 3 new galleries.
Without approval from CMDA, the Chennai Corporation also banned TNCA from using these 3 galleries. TNCA approached the Supreme Court. After hearing the case, the Supreme Court, in March, also ordered the removal of the 3 galleries
However, TNCA has been delaying the destruction and stalling time. It has been trying all ends to get the approval for the 3 galleries. It had also promised to modify the 3 galleries.
In this scenario, CMDA has ordered TNCA to destroy the 3 galleries. It has also mentioned that the destruction should be carried out without any disturbance to anyone.
