Applications invited from senior Tamil scholars for providing monthly assistance

The Directorate of Tamil Development has invited applications from senior Tamil scholars for providing monthly assistance.
Those who have completed 58 years of age as on January 1, 2016, and have been honoured or felicitated by the government or the Tamil Sangam for their contributions to Tamil development could apply.
However, their annual income should not exceed Rs. 36,000 and they should attach a certificate to be obtained from the respective tahsildar in this regard. They should also attach endorsements of two well-known Tamil scholars about their works, including books and essays.
Those selected will be given Rs 2000 per month and Rs 100 towards medical expenses. Apart from this, they will also be eligible for free bus pass.
Those fulfilling these conditions could send in applications, mentioning their name, age, address, contact number and their contributions to the Director, Tamil Development Department, Tamil Valarchi Valagam, Ist Floor, Halls Road, Egmore, Chennai 600 008 on or before 30th September 2016.
