Here is something good to feel about for both vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians as the prices of both veggies and chicken have dropped at the Koyambedu market. A kilogram of chicken is dropped by Rs 50 on Friday.

Lady’s finger and tomato are sold at Rs 8 per kilogram, and that of potato is Rs 25 per kg at the Koyambedu market. Traders state that this drop in price will continue for two or three more weeks. The market receives loads from about 220 trucks every day. The loads hail from surrounding districts and states since one week. During last month, there was significant increase in price; contrarily, there is dip in price seen this week.

Broiler chicken which was sold for Rs 160 per kg rose to Rs 250 in July and the same dropped down to Rs 200. As months pass by, there will be increase in price of chicken, according to sources.  The vice chancellor of National Egg Coordination Committee, NECC said following the start of academic year, people spending power has dwindled. Their expenses have shifted towards college and school admissions. There will be hike in price of chicken until December. As per the price fixed by NECC, an egg is sold for Rs 3.80. This was Rs 4.60 early this month.
