Applications invited for National Youth Awards

The Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu (SDAT) has invited applications from eligible youngsters and registered non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for National Youth Awards for the year 2015-16.
 
These awards are given on January 12 every year in connection with the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
 
According to a release from the Member Secretary Rajendrakumar Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT youngsters in the 13-35 age group who have done excellent work for social and national development from April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016 are eligible to apply. The award carries a cash prize of Rs.40,000 and a medal. The awards for the youth category would be given to 25 persons. The awards for registered NGOs carry a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh and a medal.
 
The other conditions are that the applicants should not have received funds from any NGO for their work, and should not be recipients of such awards earlier.
 
Employees of Central and State governments, universities and other government organisations are not eligible to apply.
NGOs which served people belonging to particular castes or religions are not eligible to apply.The other conditions of eligibility are that they should not have worked with a profit motive and should not have been recipients of such awards earlier.
 
The applications are available in all SDAT offices in the districts and could also be downloaded from the website www.sdat.gov.in. The last date for submitting the applications is 25th August.
