Amma market on trial basis in three places

Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner Tha Karthikeyan, 45 bank representatives, 25 representatives of service department and 27 exporters participated in a consultative meeting which was headed by Corporation Mayor Saidai Duraisamy.  
 
It has been decided to launch Amma weekly market in three zones on trial basis. Places selected are R K Nagar constituency, Ashok Nagar 11th Avenue and Old Mahabalipuram Road.
 
Since Amma weekly marketis being launched for the first time, the pros and cons about the goods brought for sales by the merchants as well as the ordeals faced by the consumers need to be examined. Based on the study, Amma weekly market will be launched also at Arumbakkam, mint bridge area, Valasaravakkam- Chetpet Tar Mixing Station and Marina Beach. 
  
Amma weekly market will be opened between 6 am and 9 pm. If the good brought for sales are exhausted, remedial measure for bringing the goods immediately was also discussed. Goods sold should be of a good quality. It should be cheaper when compared to the open market.
 
The manufacturer should send the details of a product like its rate and phone number in a cover to the Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner. 
 
Chennai Corporation will provide shed, electricity, ceiling fans, drinking water facility and toilets free of cost for the merchants. The police department will take care of traffic, law and order and crime. 
 
Separate place will be allotted for vegetarian and non vegetarian products.Since the sales at Amma market begin at 6 am, the products should be brought to market on the previous evening at 6 pm.  The seller will have to take the responsibility for safeguarding his products.The products should be of good quality and less price.
