As a way of commemorating the contributions of teachers, the 5th of September is celebrated as Teachers Day every year. It’s the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who shows very strong belief on education and former President of India, and of course, a teacher.
In the year 1962, when a group of students approached Dr. Radhakrishnan requesting for celebrating his birthday on 5th of September, he denied to agree it and insisted to celebrate the same day as Teachers’ day. This is clearly evident of his love for the profession. Ever since then, this day is celebrated as Teachers’ day all over India.
Dr. Radhakrishnan has made enormous contribution to journals ranging from philosophical, theological, educational, cultural and social niches. Each and every contribution he has given surprises the readers with the depth of meaning it contains.
Students carry the lessons learnt from teachers throughout their lives. Teachers need to be respected.
Both students as well as teachers look upon for Teachers’ Day every year. This is not just a day for the teachers, but the school students are equally eager and excited to dress up like their teachers and take lectures like them.
Live Chennai wishes you all a very Happy Teachers Day.
