The task of registering important data with the latest gadget by scanning the Aadhar card is in progress in all the ration shops in Chennai.
If the ration card holders show the Aadhar card to the ration shop staff, the data such as the number of members in the family, number of cylinders, cell phone number, etc. will be registered.
Those who are not able to visit the ration shop can now use their smartphones to give the Aadhar Card details.
An official from the Chennai District Civil Supply explained that the Aadhar Card number is now being linked to the ration card. There are many people who are not able to visit the ration shop and stand in the queue for long periods.
These people can download the free App TNEPDS, it will be displayed in the smartphone. Another App QR code scan has also to be downloaded.
If the cell number as registered in the ration card is entered in the App, a one-time use SMS will be received by cell phone.
Once the number given in the SMS is registered, the App will open. Then, touch the place where Aadhar Card number is to be registered, the scanner camera would be activated, Using the cell camera, show the Aadhar card where QR code (a picture in a box of black dots), it will be scanned and the Aadhar Card number will be shown in the screen in the cell.
If the button ‘submit’ (samarppi in Tamil) is pressed, the Aadhar Card number will get registered in the ration card.
This App can be used to monitor several details pertaining to the ration card from the house itself. The public who do this and complete are requested to help others as well to get their Aadhar Card details registered in their cards.
