TANGEDCO precautionary measures during cyclone

Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has given 6 precautionary measures in order to save the lives at the time of cyclones.
 
In a press release,  TANGEDCO has mentioned: Chennai Meteorological Centre has mentioned that there will be heavy rainfall with strong winds in Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Villupuram, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur and  Chennai because of the cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. Based on this the TANGEDCO has advised its employees to take preventive steps. The public are requested to be vigilant to keep their lives safe during the cyclonic period.
  • When going out of the house or to the fields, check if the electric pole or wires have been damaged.
  • If the wires of the transmission lines or electric wires are cut, the EB office should be informed. Similarly people should inform the EB if there is a spark in the transformer or electric pillars.  
  • Children should not allowed near electric poles during rains or winds.
  • Animals should not be tied to electric poles or supporting wires.
  • Home appliances such as air conditioner, washing machine, refrigerator and computers if drenched in rainwater should be used only after ascertaining from an electrician.
  • Don’t touch wet walls which carry electric wires, since there are chances of electric shock. If the wall is wet switch of the mains. Call an electrician to check before using it again.
