Private milk producer hike the price of milk and curd

Recently the prices of milk and curd were hiked by Heritage milk. The price of curd went up by Rs. 7 a litre and milk, by Rs. 4. The reason for this there is severe scarcity of milk in Tamil Nadu. Since the farmers are not able to feed their cattle, they are being sold and sent to Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Corn, which was sold at Rs. 250 a measure two years back, is now Rs. 1,000, which farmers cannot afford.

Tamil Nadu Milk Producers’ Welfare Association is demanding that steps should be taken to stop selling the cows. Otherwise the availability of milk will drop.
