Road caves in Anna Salai suddenly - heavy traffic at a standstill

The public was stunned when the road in Anna Salai caved in suddenly. The section of the road between the US Embassy and the Church Park Convent School caved in suddenly.
There was a panic among the public as they could not really know how and what had happened.
It was later explained that the caving of the road occurred due to the ongoing tunnelling activities for the Chennai Metro Rail Project.
It was explained that the leakage of the cement mixture in the construction work in the Chennai Metro Rail Project has led to the road caving in.
This incident has led to a severe traffic congestion in Anna Salai.
Right from the people who proceed for the office duties to all other travellers are held on the road for a period of more than an hour.
More traffic police have been deployed immediately and they are trying to regulate the traffic.
