The Sarahah app is either loved or hated by the social media users. However, a Chennai-based NGO has thought out of the box and is using it as a medium to share good message to the society.
With the Sarahah app, one can share messages to anyone and all your messages will be sent in anonymous names. A lot of users are enjoying the anonymous appreciations and compliments they receive.
The NGO called AWARE that is involved in spreading awareness about human rights and gender equality is making use of the app to address queries regarding sexual abuse in children and they are coming forward to support the victims.
A team under AWARE called Save The Smiles is indulged in empowering children to create awareness regarding sexual abuse. The team launched their Sarahah account on 15th August in the name savethesmiles.sarahah.com. Here, they have invited people to write to them or post queries or share their stories.
There were many queries raised on the app. This ranged from how they could report an abuse, what kind of help is possible for a child sexual abuse survivor, different stories of people who have their own individual experiences, etc. A lot of people in fact came up saying that they had never shared their experience so far.
