With the strike of the employees of the state government transport corporations withdrawn yesterday (11th January), the government bus services began normal regular operations from today (Friday, 12th January).
The employees of the state government transport corporations went on strike demanding an immediate decision on wage revision and other issues over the last 8 days.
Subsequently, after prolonged efforts and discussions with the government, the strike was withdrawn. The normal bus services resumed from the early morning today.
Pongal Special buses
Following the withdrawal of the strike, the operation of the Pongal special buses as originally scheduled is confirmed.
The transport union representatives informed that around 90% government bus services in Chennai Metro City are back in operation.
All the outstation buses to various places from the Koyambedu bus terminus started operating as usual from today (12th January).
Following the settlement and withdrawal of strike, the regular bus services resumed from midnight in Trichy. In other cities like Chennai, Madurai, and Nellai, the regular bus services resumed from the early morning today.
