Soon we could see green electric buses in the city of Chennai

With huge population and traffic present in Chennai city, people residing in this city always face many problems regarding pollution. Inspite of many attempts to reduce or eliminate pollution in Chennai we often keep hearing news about pollution and its bad effects on human health.

Now the government of Tamil Nadu has gone one step to reduce this pollution. It is now said that to reduce this pollution and to roll out green electric buses in Chennai, the government at the secretariat signed an agreement with the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. This took place on Wednesday, 28th of March 2018 and it was spoken in high esteem by many.

Transport Minister Mr. Vijayabhaskar and Mr. P.W.C. Dawidar secretary of transport signed an agreement with the C40 Low Emission Vehicle Network that belongs to C40 group.

The above function also saw the presence of chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. Edappadi. K.  Palaniswami. Various benefits of these electric buses were explained by the stake holders at the meeting on Wednesday. It is worthy to mention that C40 Low Emission Vehicle Network is working with C40 cities that are following cleaner vehicle technologies and the main purpose is to reduce transport emissions.

By promoting the use of electric buses and other modes of transport, emissions could be reduced and the network serves as the platform for C40 cities to share best policies plus practices regarding emissions reduction. According to the sources it is now confirmed that road conditions in Chennai plus logistics involved in importing electric buses would be worked on. This project in the coming days would get the much needed momentum and would be superb.

The above mentioned meeting also saw the presence of other important persons such as Mrs. Girija Vaidyanathan who is the chief secretary plus others like clean energy director Mr. James Alexander and C40 deputy executive director Mr. Kevin Austin. The city of Chennai has entered into a global agreement for promoting clean energy and this was under the C40 network, clean energy programme.

It is known that many cities are working on clean energy and urban solutions. Chennai city has sort the expertise of these other cities.
