Successive protests are being organized throughout the state of Tamil Nadu insisting on the Cauvery Management Board.

The DMK and its associated parties have called for a general strike tomorrow (Thursday, 5th April).

In this situation, the state transport employees unions have also announced that the buses may not run tomorrow.

After a consultation meeting held yesterday among the transport employees union at the ‘Pallavan Illam’, the above decision to call for a strike has been taken.

The different trade unions participating in the strike include the Labour Progressive Federation (DMK) and the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CPM),

Thus, it may be expected the most buses would not operate tomorrow. Even the sand lorry owners have offered their support for this strike.

Warning to employees

As the Department of Transport is public service oriented, the Transport Corporation Senior officials have issued a warning that all the government transport employees must not participate in this strike. They must attend duty. Stringent departmental action will be taken on those who fail to attend duty.
