People go to Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market to purchase vegetables and this market received 400 to 450 truckloads of vegetables daily three months ago. On Friday, 6th April 2018, this market received just 350 truckloads of vegetables.

Mr P. G. M. Sukumar who is the treasurer of Koyambedu Wholesale Trader’s Welfare Association expressed his views and said from the third week of April month the prices of all vegetables would increase by 10 %.

He also explained how sufficient rainfall this year would make the prices of vegetables increase gradually. In the last year prices of the vegetables started to increase from the third week of March itself.

During the recent northeast monsoon except for coastal Andhra other parts of southern peninsula received normal rainfall. Last year in the month of April price of tomato was Rs 18 whereas in this year the price is just Rs 10 to Rs 12. Last year the price of carrot was Rs 35 and in this year the price is Rs 15 to Rs 20.
