There is debris or garbage present in the southern beaches in Chennai and these create issues for the visitors. The latest news is Chennai Corporations has deployed cleaning machines at a few more beaches belonging to the Chennai. People visiting the beach at Palavakkam and other stretches would be surprised to see garbage cleaning machines there. It is now believed this would boost the tourism to a great extent.
As per the Chennai corporation commissioner, Mr. Prakash, it is clear that he has directed the civic body officials to utilize these machines for cleaning more beaches present along the southern parts of Chennai city. An official later expressed his views on the beach cleaning machines and spoke about how these machines are now used to clean Palavakkam beach, Tiruvalluvar beach etc. He added that cleaning work gets started every day at 6 am in the morning.
It must be noted that till now beach cleaning machines have been used in Marina beach and Elliot’s beach. Now beaches present in places like Nochi Kuppam, Dooming Kuppam and Srinivasapuram along loop road are being cleaned using these beach cleaning machines.
One important piece of information is beach cleaning work in more places would improve the tourism along the city beaches. The civic body has began pilot projects at more beaches in Chennai after purchasing as many as 8 additional beach cleaning machines. Point to be noted is a total of 10 beach cleaning machine are being used for conservancy operations at the Chennai city beaches.
It is superb to mention that these beach cleaning machines could pick up all the waste material and would make sands clean and neat. The truth is beaches present in north Chennai are yet to get machines for conservancy operations. It is revealed that the beaches in north Chennai would need atleast 5 new machines.
It is worthy to note that the civic body has installed bins at more than 50 locations, public toilets at 6 locations and seating arrangements at 15 locations. With funds got from the central government, civic body developed first-aid kiosks, new toilets and tourist infrastructure along the Marina beach few months back. The tourists were unhappy regarding the toilets along the beaches and said they were not cleaned well. Some tourists complained about how the public toilet opposite to TNSCB office near Ice House was damaged.
It is important to note that the fishermen were happy about the beach cleaning machines being used and said they were co-operating with the civic officials. A representative of fishermen, K. Bharathi spoke about how they were requesting the corporation to clean the beach. He finally added that the corporation officials need to get CRZ clearance before implementing the infrastructure projects like markets, metro rail, road etc.
