Jogging and cycling tracks to be laid at Siruseri IT Park in OMR

Many IT professionals working in various firms in the Siruseri IT Park would feel delighted now.

Information that has come out is employees of various firms in the IT Park at Siruseri n OMR would soon be able to ride a bicycle or jog around on the campus to relieve their stress.

This IT Park at Siruseri is maintained by SIPCOT or State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu is well known. Soon SIPCOT would be reviving Navalur tank by laying cycling and jogging tracks over the bund. It must be noted that the tank would be de-silted to increase its storage capacity and the bund would be transformed to a recreational hub.

As per an official belonging to SIPCOT, the state owned industries corporation has charted a plan and before the month of November SIPCOT would be completing the de-silting of the tank spread over 40 acres in the Open Space Reserve area. Information gathered is the tank is presently 4.5 m deep and would be deepened by another 5 feet and the earth excavated would be used to further increase the 3 metre high bund.

Official of SIPCOT explained about how de-silting of the tank to store excess water would be carried out and how bund could be strengthened further for laying cycling and jogging tracks. He added that the employees of various firms in IT Park at Siruseri could utilize the facilities after their work. In addition to this, neighborhood people could also get benefited by the facilities.

There are as many as 46 companies in this IT Park at Siruseri and they employ about 90,000 professionals including 60,000 direct employees. The authorities wanted to rejuvenate the water resources due to the recent water scarcity here. It must be noted that 2 million litres a day needed for the IT firms at the Siruseri Park includes 1MLD from the available wells and the rest from the private water tankers. To make sure that this IT Park at Siruseri is sufficient in distribution of water, SIPCOT is doing its best now.

An official commented about how Navalur tank could be important as it could act as a major water source to meet the needs during next summer. It is amazing to mention that boat rides would also be possible on the tank if adequate water is stored. He concluded that the initiative would be expanded to other 18 SIPCOT parks in TN.
