6 locations under scrutiny for setting up the 2nd Aiport in Chennai!

Information is gathered that 6 locations are under scrutiny for setting up the 2nd airport in Chennai Metro City.
Presently, the Chennai Airport is located in Meenambakkam. However the air traffic, both domestic and international, have increased drastically. So, it is natural to expect this trend will continue and the number of flights by the next 2 years may go up excessively higher! So, arrangements are being made to build another airport. Activities have been initiated at full swing.
As per the airport authorities, it is estimated that land of around 2000 to 2500 acres would be required to set up the 2nd airport.
In this scenario, 6 locations have been selected for exploration and decision - Valathur, Thodur, Cheyyur, Thirupporur, Madhuramangala, and Mappedu.
Once the officials of the Airport Authority of India scrutinize the locations and analyze, the location for the 2nd Airport in the Chennai Metro City will be decided.
