Amazing 300 percent sales increase during the lockdown has been witnessed in the start-ups in the organized fish, meat, and poultry space. It is now said that even after the lockdown gets lifted the sales would be on the rise.
It must be noted that many unorganized markets remained closed in the lockdown but online start-ups operated with home delivery options.
There has been threefold growth in the business and this was revealed by Mr. Sushil Kanugolu MD and CEO of Fipola Retail India. He mentioned that people from all age categories purchased meat online in the lockdown. Buying meat in a safe and hygienic manner is being given more importance now by the people.
He concluded that soon there would be 6 more meat stores that would be covering the entire Chennai region. It is amazing to mention here that Fipola Retail India has got as many as 4lakh customers in Chennai.
Founder and CEO of Tendercuts, Mr. Nishanth Chandran, spoke about how Coronavirus infection has brought positive movement for his company. He explained the several years that have been taken by the customers to switch to hygienic chicken, mutton, and seafood.
There has been a new trend now with even-spreading of sales on the weekdays. In the past, before the lockdown, there were huge sales only on the weekends. Tender cuts has got as many as 5 lakh customers in Chennai and Hyderabad.
It has been brought to light that most of these outlets were spacious and social distancing could be followed easily.
As per Mr. Shan Kadavil, CEO of Banglore based FreshToHome, there was good growth in the Chennai market. He added that in those areas that were not sealed the sales went up 30 to 50 percent and the customers bought meat even in the weekdays too.
