Chennai city first ever multi-level car parking at T. Nagar

The two wheelers and the four wheelers would get a parking place soon in the crowded T. Nagar in Chennai.

It is revealed that GCC has completed the construction work of multi-level car parking in T. Nagar. This facility would be launched in October for the public.

According to Mr. S.P. Velumani, minister for municipal administration, the multi-level car parking would be inaugurated by the CM of Tamil Nadu Mr. E. Palaniswami during the second week of October. The minister said this in a meeting with the officials of GCC. 

Truth is the multi-level car parking could accomodate 500 two wheelers and 200 four wheelers. This fully automated multi-level parking facility project was implemented under the Smart City Mission and an amount of Rs 40.79 crores have been used. Information is this multi-level parking would have 2 underground floors, ground floor and 6 floors.

It is said that this multi-level parking facility would be the first such facility in Chennai city constructed by the Chennai Corporation. Point is 1522 sq m of land is being used to construct this multi-level parking facility.

The construction works began in the month of February in 2018 and was suspended due to Covid-19 induced lockdown in Chennai. .As per an official belonging to GCC, the works has been almost completed and the remaining works would get over in another 10 days. 

The charges that would be collected from the vehicle owners for parking haven’t been decided yet. It is pointed out that the proposal for fixing charges has been submitted to the commissioner.
