In the future, if you cross the stop line at the traffic signals in Chennai then you would be caught and fined. The motorists cannot violate the traffic rules and cross the stop lines at the traffic signals in the Chennai city.
The news is that Chennai traffic police have decided not to be lenient to the traffic rule violators and the motorists would have to pay fines.
It is known that the traffic police personnel have been creating awareness about the stop lines at the traffic signals. Point is that still no final decision has been taken regarding when to commence zero tolerance policy on this stop line violation.
According to a senior police officer, the rules are already there regarding crossing the stop lines at the traffic signals when there is a red signal. He explained about how the motorists tend to ignore it thinking it was not a major offence. Truth is that going beyond the stop line when the signal is red could lead to accidents.
There are also times when the motorists ignore the red signal when the road has been empty and those resulted in accidents too. The police officer later spoke about how a campaign has been initiated to create awareness about these minor violations of traffic rules.
The campaign was also done to increase the visibility of the traffic police personnel. He concluded that the offenders stopping beyond the stop line at the traffic signals would be fine soon and how the date of initiation has not been finalised yet.
