To prevent the spread of Coronavirus third infection wave in Chennai, GCC has been taking serious measures is known to us.
In this regard, the Chennai corporation commissioner, Mr. Gagandeep Sing Bedi, mentioned that at 9 locations in Chennai shops would be opened from today onwards. It is worthy to mention that those shops that violate Corona Prevention Rules would be dealt with strictly and they would be sealed.
On 30th of July 2021, the TN chief minister Mr. M.K. Stalin made it clear that the respective district magistrates, corporation commissioners and police could decide on closing down an area due to overcrowding. There was a meeting that took place immediately on 30th July with the various business organisations for compliance of Corona infection protection guidelines on the shopping malls and market areas under the Chennai Corporation.
The meeting was chaired by Chennai corporation commissioner Mr. Gagandeep Singh and Chennai police commissioner, Mr. Shankar Jaiwal. In the meeting decision was taken regarding banning of shops and markets from North Usman road to Mambalam railway station at T. Nagar and Doveton to Brooklyn Road at Purasawalkam, from Ratna Cafe Junction to Bells Road junction, in the Royapuram based Kal Mandapam Salai, from Aminjikarai Police Assistance Centre to Bulla Avenue Thiru Vi Ka Nagar Park junction, from Anjaneyar statue to Ambedkar Statue in Red Hills market areas in Chennai.
As per the requests made by the area merchants, GCC has decided to open the stores at 9 locations in Chennai. This was according to the Chennai corporation commissioner.
