Life is highly precious, but who cares!!
The school and college students might have a different opinion regarding the value of life. It has become a common sight to see many school as well as college students travelling on the footboards of MTC buses risking their lives. It must be noted that police department personnel as well as employees of the transport department have been finding it tough to manage these students.
In the Chennai suburbs, bus commuters suffer more because of the fact that many school students do not follow rules while boarding government buses. The bus conductors face many issues from these students every day.
It must be taken into account that 2 months back a class 10 student of a government school in east Tambaram fell down while travelling on the footboard. Shocking truth is that he was run over by the same bus. Inspite of these accidents, there has been no change in the behaviours of the students regarding footboard travelling.
Along the Kandigai -Tambaram route, several students travel on the footboards plus they also cling to the window panes etc. It was highlighted by a source from the police department that travelling on footboards was a nuisance to the department. The department might not be able to monitor every bus throughout the day. It is true that schools could monitor the nearby bus stands and could correct the students. It is noteworthy that the parents of those students (who travel on footboards in the buses) should be called by the school management and a warning could be issued.
