Great News!! In a few more months, more trains will run on the Chennai Beach - Tambaram line!!

Many Chennai residents who travel to their destinations using suburban trains have now got a reason to feel delighted!!
In a few months, Southern Railway or SR would be introducing more suburban trains along the Chennai Beach- Tambaram line. This would be because the speed of the 30km long third line from Chengalpet to Tambaram has been increased from 80kmph to 100kmph.
It is learnt that SR is considering increasing the train frequency in the morning peak (as the permissible speed has been increased) hours plus adding few more fast trains between Chengalpet and Beach. Since the month of March 2022 the new laid line has been used for running suburban trains and occasionally for express trains.
More suburban trains could be operated in the route by increasing the speeds of the line and this would help in decongestion. This was according to a spokesperson belonging to the Chennai Division of SR. Point is that along the Chengalpet- Tambaram Beach route more than 300 trains are being operated by SR every day but still in the morning peak hours the trains are heavily crowded. There is also the issue of train delays to contend with in the morning peak hours and this is also creating issues for many daily commuters.
