The new bus terminus at Kilambakkam is making amazing news now!!
The news is that this new mofussil bus terminus at Kilambakkam could get a rail link through a skywalk. The TN government is thinking about the feasibility of the skywalk here and this was as per some sources. An amount of Rs 393.74 crores is being used to construct the new mofussil bus terminus at Kilambakkam. It is noteworthy that this new bus terminus would improve the connectivity to south Tamil Nadu.
Truth is that this new bus terminus might not be accessible for many passengers as they have to depend on MTC buses to reach the new bus terminus. The new bus terminus is expected to be inaugurated by the end of December.
It must be recalled that CMDA member secretary Mr. Andhul Mishra had earlier promised that the new bus terminus at Kilambakkam might be inaugurated by September month but the deadline could not be met. It is now said that a feasibility study is being carried out to build a skywalk linking Kilambakkam bus terminus with Vandalur railway station
The possibility of constructing an additional platform is being considered by the Indian railways now for linking the railway station to the proposed skywalk. The Tamil Nadu government is keen to begin the work before the bus terminus gets inaugurated but the railways are particular regarding space.
The sources have made it clear that the skywalk as well as the additional platform at Vandalur railway station would take 9 months to construct and the platform would cater to the suburban trains only. In the future, Kilambakkam could become the next transport hub because the Tamil Nadu government is conducting a feasibility study on linking phase-2 of Chennai`s metro rail corridor 3 between Madhavaram and Siruseri with Kelambakkam and Kilambakkam.
