In Chennai, many people use their own vehicles to go to their destinations. These persons along with the pedestrians are really concerned and worried about what is in store for them in this monsoon.

It is known that the authorities have given assurances regarding the completion of storm water drains or SWD works in Chennai. The motorists as well as the pedestrians are not convinced regarding the assurances given by the authorities.

It is a bitter truth that in kolathur Senthil Nagar and West Canal Road  have been in poor conditions for the last 4 months as the SWD works are not completed here. This Kolathur was affected very bady in 2021.

As per a resident of Kolathur last year it took one week for the water to drain out. He added that the roads have become worse now and get flooded even with moderate rains. The blacktop has gotten stripped within a month of relaying here and waterlogging has been responsible for that. This has been making the lives of 2 wheelers very difficult here.

The GCC laid pavement with rails near Padi after many years but the road was dug up immediately byTangedco. Truth is that the road is not yet re-laid inspite of the completion of the work by Tangedco. The metro rail works have resulted in the poor condition of the roads in north Chennai localities.

It was brought to light by an activist that the entire north Chennai has been left out as the civic body authorities etc have not been concentrating on the repairs and maintenance of the roads. Even walking becomes very tough when it rains here due to the slippery nature of the roads.

Information is that several roads in north chennai such as Ennore High Road, Thiruvottiyur High Road, Vaithyanathan Road etc are in bad shape now.
