The sales for the festival of deepavali has been sensational now in Chennai with just a few more days remaining for the festival. On Sunday, 16th October, the shops were overcrowded as many came with their families to do deepavali purchase. Localities like T. Nagar and Washermanpet were full of people busy with their deepavali purchase.
In 2022, the deepavali festival falls on 24th October and many have decided to go to their native places to be with their families and friends for this important festival from Friday evening itself. Yesterday was the last holiday before the deepavali festival and due to this the textile shops were overcrowded with people jostling for space. There are many textile shops in places like T.Nagar, Purasawalkam etc and people came in huge numbers to these shops to buy their new dresses.
Many people belonging to suburban places like Tambaram, Chengalpet etc took trains to reach the busy T. Nagar textile shops yesterday. In other suburban localities like Padi, Chromepet, Porur etc, many textile shops were full of people.
Not only were the textile shops overcrowded, but also other shops like eateries/restaurants, tea shops, sweet shops etc were full of people yesterday. The police personnel were very busy monitoring the crowds with the help of CCTV cameras.
