A new mobile app roadEase was launched by Chennai police commissioner Mr. Shankar Jiwal yesterday in Chennai and this is making superb news now. The application developer, Lepton would be informed by the Chennai city police regarding the road blocks, traffic congestions and diversions etc with this app and these would be reflected on Google Maps within 15minutes.
It is worthy to mention that in Chennai these days metro train works of CMRL plus storm water drains works are going on. The roads in Chennai would be blocked by the police during protests etc. In these emergency situations, the traffic police personnel would block or close one or two ways also.
It was highlighted by the Chennai city police press statement that on Google Maps, road blocks, diversions and road accidents etc do not get updated immediately and the users find it tough to navigate. Information gathered is that with road Ease the internal police team could be informed by traffic police regarding the roadblocks, accidents and diversions etc and these would be sent to the app developer for making necessary changes on the Google Maps.
Public would be able to know about the route changes easily by this new applIcation developed by Lepton. This was as per a senior officer belonging to Lepton. He hinted that the whole process would take just 15 minutes to 20 minutes only and then would get reflected on Google Maps.
It must be taken into account that a trial was conducted for 4 days and the new application was launched on Thursday officially by the Chennai police commissioner.
