The delay in getting a visa for traveling to Malaysia has been irritating many people belonging to Tamil Nadu now.
Malaysia is one of the top 3 destinations for many from TN is well known. As the visas are not issued on time, people are forced to cancel their trips to Malaysia now and suffer loss. It is surprising to mention that e-visa that is normally issued in 2 to 3 days after application now takes more than a week. The snag in the servers have been rectified but the backlog has been causing delays.
Traders as well as the business people have been affected more by this visa delay and they are finding it difficult to schedule their trips to Malaysia. As the destinations like Malaysia are very popular for many Chennai residents etc, the leisure travel has been affected also now.
Mr. Arul Lazaran, United Travels spoke about the fact that the approvals have been taking time. He added that people who need an urgent visa would have to go to the consulate and spend time there to get their passport stamped. He threw light on how the consulate has informed the travel agencies about the rectification of snag in the servers and how the backlog was leading to delays. For the last 2 weeks, the server issue has been slowing down the processing time.
It is learnt that Malaysia has now started giving visas for Indian travellers when they land in Singapore or Thailand etc and then drive down to Kuala Lumpur. The urgent travellers would feel a little happy now. This was according to Mr. Basheer Ahmed belonging to Chennai Metro Travels. On Thursday, the Malaysian consulate has informed that e-visa is now available and new applications are being accepted. It must be noted that the one-way air ticket fare is in the range Rs 9000 to Rs 12000 from Chennai to Kuala Lumpur.
