At Pallavaram and at Thiruporur in Chennai, 2 new courts were opened and the main objective behind this was to clear the pending cases and to avoid rush at the magistrate courts in Chennai.

The inadequate infrastructure has been an issue at these 2 new courts and this was according to some advocates and litigants etc.

It was revealed by an official data that a total of 2468 civil and criminal cases that have been pending at Tambaram and Alandur courts till now have been transferred to the Pallavaram court. Likewise, 1040 pending cases at Chengalpet court have been transferred to the Thiruporur court.

An old government building at Kilkattalai bus stand in south Chennai was renovated by the TN govt and judiciary. Soon, the daily hearings would start at Pallavaram court. It is noteworthy that clients belonging to localities like Chromepet, Hasthinapuram, Pammal, Chitlapakkam,Zamin Pallavaram etc could go to the new court at Pallavaram.

Alandur court is located near the Nanganallur metro station and is easily approachable is known. It is now mentioned that the new court at Pallavaram has got limited public transportation access and due to this more people would use their cars and bikes etc.

Mr. JP. Karthikeyan, an advocate at Alandur court was of the view that the new court at Pallavaram does not have proper parking facilities and therefore many would leave their vehicles on the road only. This could lead to more traffic congestion also. In Addition, the old buildings do not have enough toilet facilities either.
