A flyover was inaugurated at Perungalathur to reduce the traffic congestion and due to that the Erikarai bus stop was shifted to near the entrance of Maduravoyal bypass road. This has been creating many issues for the residents belonging to Peerkankaranai now. Since the Erikarai bus stop in Peerkankaranai is present so close to the flyover entrance, the MTC bus drivers are avoiding this bus stop completely now.

In the past, all white board MTC buses used to stop at the Erikarai bus stop between Tambaram and Perungalathur is well known. It is noteworthy that the residents from Roja Nagar, Mullai Nagar, Vel Ngar, Devnesa Nagar etc used to board MTC buses . Likewise many school and college students also used the bus stop regularly.

These days, the white board MTC buses do not stop at all at the shifted Erikarai bus stop. Despite passengers requesting stoppage of the buses, the divers and conductors skip the stop.

Walking one kilometre (to board a bus at Perungalathur bus stop) under the scorching sun or in the cold weather has been very difficult for many commuters. This was brought out by a resident from Devanesa Nagar.  It is shocking to note that the buses do not stop at Perungalathur also sometimes as the drivers stop the buses at the place that is comfortable for them. It is true that many commuters are now forced to spend huge money on share autos to travel as the buses do not stop. A transport dept official mentioned that the dept would look into this issue.
