The north east monsoon has ended and Chennai will be dry till the end of December. It is now said that the Chennaites could plan their New Year outdoor celebrations now.

There might be light rains for another 2 days and this was as per IMD. The weather bloggers have  mentioned that there would not be rains in the city as the system that was present over the Comorin sea has weakened into a  cyclonic circulation.

It has further mover over the southwest Arabian sea. There might be a dip in the temperatures in Chennai next week as cold northerly winds might enter TN. In the next 2 days, there might be light rains in some localities in Chennai. The maximum temp in Chennai would be 34 degrees Celisus and minimum 23 degrees to 24 degrees Celsius.

A meteorologist explained that this was due to the fact that the cyclonic air circulation that was present over Maldives and adjoining Coumorin se has moved over south east Arabian sea and the adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean. Information collected is that since October month TN had received 444.2mm rainfall that was 1percent above normal. In Chennai, 924.6mm of rain has been recorded since October and that is 16percent above normal.
