Unchecked piling and dumping of garbage has been creating many issues for those who use the Pozhichalur Road near Pallavaram in Chennai. This has been worrying many residents, commuters and motorists here now.
It must be taken into account that the main road that connects Kol Bazaar is unclean with many stray animals eating the waste. No action has been taken here to provide a solution for the residents here despite many complaints. There is only one garbage dumping place along the Pozhichalur Main Road and this too has been adding to the woes of the residents here.
It was mentioned by a resident that motorists who use the stretch at night face many issues. He added that the bikers and students on their bicycles find it difficult to pass through Pozhichalur Road due to the cattles here. Though the municipality officials of Anakaputhur have been removing the garbage but it was not done on a daily basis. As a result, the garbage would stagnate for 2 to 3 days, leading to an unbearable smell. A municipal officer from Anakhaputhur spoke about how the area has got 2 big garbage collection units but the residents throw the waste on the roads only.
