To know about the passengers` opinion regarding their journey in the metro trains in Chennai, a questionnaire has been distributed to all the metro stations. This was according to some CMRL officials. The Chennai public have been using metro trains more now.
In the Chennai city, in phase-1, metro trains are being operated for a distance of 54km in 2 routes like St Thomas Mount – Chennai Central and Airport- Wimco Nagar. In the last few months, 1.8lakhs to 2.4lakhs passengers travel every day in these metro trains. To increase the patronage in metro trains, CMRL has been taking several measures.
In this scenario, CMRL has planned to conduct a survey to know about the needs of the passengers and get their support. Last year, the first survey was conducted by CMRL. In the next week, the second survey will be conducted by CMRL. As a result, a questionnaire would be distributed to 20000 to 25000 passengers. The survey would be conducted in all the metro stations in Chennai.
The questionnaire would have questions like profile of the passengers, reason why passengers use metro trains, journey details, services etc. For improving the facilities, public opinion would be sought out. This was according to some officials from CMRL.
