A skywalk in T Nagar is set to open in April after a lengthy delay

After several delays, the construction of the pedestrian walkway from Thiagaraya Nagar Bus Stand to Mambalam Railway Station under the Smart City project is nearing completion. The Chennai Corporation has allocated Rs 26 crore for this 600-meter-long and 4.20-meter-wide walkway project. However, due to various reasons, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, pending payments to contractors, staff shortages, and changes in the project design, the work has been delayed.
Now, with more than 90 percent of the work completed, questions have arisen about when the inauguration will take place. The Chennai Corporation has confirmed that all works related to the pedestrian walkway project will be completed by the end of April. Once it is fully completed, the walkway will be open to the public, providing an easy and safe mode of transport for pedestrians in the busy locality.
