Lions safari at the famous Vandalur Zoo would restart tentatively from the end of May month.
The Coronavirus pandemic has brought the Lions Safari here to a halt is known to us. This safari has been one of the most prominent attractions of this famous Vandalur Zoo. Since April due to summer vacations, the Vandalur Zoo has been witnessing many footfalls. On 30th of April, more than 20000 people visited this zoo.
In 2021 and in 2022, the Vandalur Zoo was closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the management of Arignar Anna Zoological Park or AAZP has reopened the facilities like butterfly park, children`s park, aquarium and the nocturnal animal house etc. During the Coronavirus pandemic, the zoo lost a few lions. It must be recalled that on 22nd of April 2023 2 lions were brought into this zoo from Bannerghatta Biological Park lthrough animal exchange programme. These 2 lions would be under quarantine till the second week of May.
