J Radhakrishnan, the Commissioner of Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), conducted an inspection of the ongoing road restoration efforts in Madipakkam in the aftermath of recent heavy rainfall. The inspection primarily focused on areas where the Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) had undertaken pipe laying works.
Out of a total of 457 roads in wards 187 and 188, sewerage pipe laying work has been carried out on 124 roads in Madipakkam. During the inspection, GCC officials confirmed that the completion of the sewerage pipe laying works on 40 roads, while the remaining roads are expected to be addressed promptly once settled tenders are put into action.
In order to ensure effective coordination of road cut works, committees will be formed at the ward level as directed by the Additional Chief Secretary for Municipal Administration, Water Supply (ACS-MAWS). These committees will play a crucial role in streamlining the restoration process and minimizing any inconveniences caused to the residents.
The GCC officials further mentioned that the completed roads are being handed over after the removal of excess earth, signifying progress in the restoration efforts. The restoration works are a testament to the dedication of the authorities to improve the infrastructure and address the damages caused by the recent heavy rains.
As the restoration works continue in Madipakkam, the GCC remains committed to ensuring the timely completion of road repairs, enhancing the safety and convenience of the residents in the affected areas.
