Chennai Metro City Launches Special Control Room to Combat Rainwater Stagnation During Northeast Monsoon!

A unique Central Control Room has been established in the office of the Chennai Metro City Police Commissioner to monitor and prevent rainwater stagnation.

The Northeast Monsoon Rainy Season has commenced in Tamil Nadu, leading to intermittent rains in Chennai Metro City. It is expected that the northeast monsoon rainy season will intensify shortly. To prepare for this monsoon season and to prevent water stagnation, which can cause acute traffic congestion, a Special Control Room has been set up on the 7th Floor of the Chennai Metro City Police Commissioner`s Office in Vepery, Chennai.

The above Special Central Control Room for monitoring rainwater stagnation has been established through collaboration between the Chennai Police Department, Fire-fighting Department, and the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).

The concerned officials and staff will promptly respond to help remove the stagnant rainwater.

Regarding the 14 important subways in the Chennai Metro City, the police officials have shared the following:

"As part of recent initiatives, immediate action will be taken wherever there is widespread rainwater stagnation in Chennai Metro City. There are 14 essential subways in Chennai Metro City that we closely monitor to prevent stagnant rainwater.

If water stagnation is still observed, electric motors will be deployed to pump it out. In other words, all necessary actions will be taken to ensure that the public does not face hardships due to stagnant rainwater. If the public encounters any difficulties, they can contact the Special Control Centre mentioned above."
