In the future, don`t be surprised if you come across kiosks, ticket counters, seating areas and display boards with bus and train timings on the 300m skywalk that would connect the MTC bus terminus at Kilambakkam with the railway station at Kilambakkam!!
According to an official belonging to CUMTA, in phase-1 elevated pedestrian walkway would connect the bus terminus at Kilambakkam with the railway station. He added that in phase-2 it would link with the main terminal. It was confirmed that the construction of a skywalk has begun near the Kilambakkam bus terminus.
Information is that the skywalk would originate at the railway station and it would span across 3 platforms and would extend over GST Road to the MTC terminal. It is learnt that there would be descending arms to each platform, GST Road, and the terminal with elevators, escalators etc.
There would be a 20m wide deck over the platforms and the rest of the strictures would be of the width of 8m. On the deck, there would be kiosks and ticket counters plus designated seating places for the passengers to rest while they wait for the transport.
In the coming days, the land acquisition near the railway station would get over and a dedicated bay would be available here where the buses would stop.
