There is some surprising piece of information for the Chennai residents now!!

The Broadway bus terminus would be temporarily shifted to the Chennai Port Trust Land near NRT Bridge in Royapuram. Initially, this bus terminus was supposed to be relocated to the famous Island Grounds.  It is learnt that the decision was taken because of the upcoming multi modal facility in Broadway that would integrate MTC bus terminus and Kuralagam building. This multi modal facility was a project that was undertaken by CMRL or Chennai Metro Rail Limited.

At an estimated cost of Rs 3.42 crores, tenders have been floated for various works at the temporary bus stand in north Chennai. Fifth of November is the opening date for the bid. It is now said that the Broadway bus terminus would be handed over to the CMRL by the local body by the end of November.

It must not be forgotten that initially the bus terminus at Broadway was supposed to be shifted temporarily to Island Grounds in Chennai. The CMDA would be carrying out development works for Rs 60 crores at the Island grounds and due to this the Broadway bus terminus would be relocated temporarily to Chennai Port Trust land. It is noteworthy that the Chennai Corporation has passed a resolution to set up a riverside park near the same grounds.  The work regarding setting up of river-side Park would get affected if the bus terminus gets shifted to island Grounds.
