Vegetable Prices Fluctuate at Koyambedu Market: Garlic and Capsicum Up, Beans and Drumsticks Down

Chennai’s Koyambedu Wholesale Market experienced noticeable fluctuations in vegetable prices on April 24 (Thursday), with a sharp rise in some and steep drops in others.

Garlic saw the highest increase, rising by ₹20 to ₹130 per kg (up from ₹110). Capsicum followed with a ₹10 hike, now priced at ₹90 per kg (up from ₹80).

In contrast, many vegetables became significantly cheaper:

- Beans: ₹50/kg (down ₹30)
- Broad Beans: ₹30/kg (down from ₹60)
- Drumsticks: ₹20/kg (down from ₹40)
- Chow Chow: ₹10/kg (down ₹15)
- Carrot: ₹30/kg (down ₹5)
- Snake Gourd: ₹15/kg (down ₹5)
- Ladies Finger: ₹15/kg (down ₹10)
- Green Peas: ₹80/kg (down ₹10)
- Bitter Gourd: ₹20/kg (steady)
- Brinjal: ₹15/kg (steady)
- Radish: ₹13/kg (down ₹7)
- Lemon: ₹120/kg (down ₹30)
- Onion: Slight decrease by ₹2

Some vegetables maintained stable prices:

- Tomato: ₹15/kg
- Potato: ₹15/kg
- Beetroot: ₹15/kg
- Green Chilli: ₹25/kg

The price shifts reflect seasonal supply changes and logistics, influencing both traders and everyday buyers. Consumers are advised to take note of the current trends for better planning and budgeting.
