CCTV surveillance in all high schools – for better student safety & security – Chennai Corporation

In order for the better safety and security of the students, surveillance monitoring systems with CCTV will be installed at all Chennai Corporation Schools from the next Academic Year.
CCTV has been already installed in 20 schools out of a total of 32.CCTV installation will taken up for the balance 12 schools.
Anti-social elements cause a lot of problems. CCTV security will prevent their entry into the school area and also the students getting out.
The presence of CCTV will increase the sense of safety and also prevent kidnapping.
The students Unions have observed that this is not necessary. They feel only rich kids are likely to be kidnapped. It is better to ensure all basic amenities first before installation of CCTV systems. There is also some scope for misuse.
